Ronaldo Set For LA Contract

Ronaldo Set For LA Contract

Cristiano Ronaldo has flown in to Los Angeles to sign a contract… but a contract of a different kind.

The Portuguese ace, who has been in the headlines practically every day since the end of last season, flew out to Los Angeles just a few days after successfully undergoing his ankle surgery to attend the 2008 ESPY Awards. While there, he is also expected to sign a contract with a firm that will manage the rights to his public images, according to Portuguese television channel, SIC. It is believed to be the same company that represents American actress Angelina Jolie.

But before he flew out to the States, the TV station reported that Sir Alex Ferguson himself jetted out to Lisbon last Monday to have a chat with Ronaldo, in a bid to convince the free-scoring winger not to sign for La Liga champions, Real Madrid.

The source, however, stated that Sir Alex did not shut the door completely on the 23 year old on the possibility of joining the Spanish behemoths in the near future.

Ronaldo, who is expected to be out for up to three months after the surgery to remove damaged cartilage from his right ankle, admitted on Thursday that he could play for LA Galaxy some day in the future, but at the moment, he has no intentions of leaving Europe.
