Moyes Has Designs On Fletcher

Moyes Has Designs On Fletcher

Everton manager David Moyes has reportedly launched a charm offensive in the hopes of luring fellow Scot Darren Fletcher away from Manchester United.

According to The Sun, Moyes has already approached his United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson over the availability of the 24-year-old, who has never quite managed to nail down a regular starting spot at Old Trafford despite the esteem in which his manager holds him.

Everton are reported to be reading an official £4million offer for Fletcher, who is regarded as one of his country's most gifted players having risen through the ranks at United.

Earlier last month, Ferguson seemed to indicated that Fletcher will play a more prominent role for the club next season, after a combination of injuries and the intense midfield competition at Old Trafford limited him to just 11 starts.

With Hargreaves, Scholes, Carrick, Anderson, Ronaldo, Nani, Park and Giggs all able fulfill the same role, Fletcher knows that time will be at a premium, however, and Moyes will be looking to convince him that being a fundamental figure at Everton trumps being a bit player at United.
