More To Come From Anderson, States Rio

More To Come From Anderson, States Rio

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson started Anderson in yesterday's visit to Portsmouth despite the young Brazilian playing in six games in 18 days for Brazil at the Beijing Olympics. Captain for the night Rio Ferdinand has been impressed with what he has seen, but believes there is more to come from the stocky wonderkid...

Anderson had an impressive debut season last campaign. Sir Alex Ferguson's faith in the young midfielder was evident when he was constantly picked for key games, indicating the new number 8 does not get intimidated by the big occasion.

Despite only arriving back in England from the Olympics over the weekend, Ferguson fielded the Brazilian in Manchester United's second game of the season, against Portsmouth.

Regarding the return of the Brazilian, Rio Ferdinand is quoted by the club's official website as saying: "Anderson did well until he got to 60 minutes and started blowing! We have a little joke with him about that kind of thing. He's a fantastic footballer with great abilities and we've not seen the best of him yet."

He continued: "His barnet's shocking at the minute. His extensions have come out and he's been in China where he's had nobody with the capability to braid him up. Hopefully now he's back in Manchester he can get hold of the person who normally does it for him!"
